C.L.R.C. WEBSITE EXPANDED
Canadian Livestock Records Corporation is pleased to announce that our website, found at www.clrc.on.ca, has been expanded in scope and content. For 21 of the 46 CLRC member associations, a listing of association members, and information about the animals in those members’ herds is now available on the Internet. Visitors to the website are able to search for members by name, and for animals by name, registration number, microchip number or tattoo. For animals. one may view the basic information, such as name, number, sex, identification, percentage of purity, and breeder and owner. In addition, a listing of progeny can be viewed, and one can trace the ancestry by clicking on the sire and dam and thus viewing the ancestry of those animals. In summary, the information posted is an Electronic Herdbook. The information is uploaded directly from the registry database at CLRC, thus ensuring that the information displayed is official verified information. Updates will be performed on at least a quarterly basis.
An added feature for the two dairy breeds involved; namely Brown Swiss and Guernsey, is that there is a direct link to the Canadian Dairy Network website, where the genetic evaluation data for an animal can be viewed.
To access this information on the CLRC website, simply click on "Breed Pages", then on the species, then the specific breed, and finally "Members and Pedigrees". Listed below are the breed associations currently participating.
The staff and Directors of CLRC regard this expansion of the website as a giant step forward in assisting member breed associations to promote high-quality Canadian breeding stock in the international marketplace. This service is being provided at no cost to all CLRC member associations that choose to participate.
CLRC wishes to acknowledge the work by Shawn Snider and Gordon Hartley in assisting us to develop this program.
